How would you describe yourself in five words ?

Why did you choose to do an ESC?
To be honest, in some moment of my live I started to travel by my own and, since the first trip, I’ve never stopped. I felt in love with the idea of discover every part of the world and after the lockdown I needed some fresh air. I finished my studies one year ago and, after some months working in the middle of these pandemic times, I thought that was a good moment to start a new adventure.
The ESC is a wonderful option to go to a different place generating a reciprocal help; improve the English or learn a new language; meet people and a new culture, food, thoughts, music, etc. From my point of view, all this together makes you more human.
Why did you choose Idrija as welcoming town?
After all the stress of living in a capital as Madrid, I was searching something totally different, actually I need it. I read about volunteering in various countries and didn´t have clear at all. “How to choose the right place?” Well, I guess it´s impossible to tell if you´re not going anywhere. In some point of my research Slovenia appeared, Idrija concretely. Everything started with a “What a greenly place”, after one “those žlikrofi look tasty” and a few websites, I was applying and wishing I could come here.
In what way are Spanish people the same as Slovenians?
I can appreciate some differences; in Spain the people are louder, practically everywhere you can listen to someone, even if it’s far away, and here in the most of the places I can be at peace. At the same time, I can feel this calm in the people, everyone is very polite but totally open to chat –even when my horrible four words in Slovenian are an evidence—, I really appreciate it.
What do you think about the Idrija Youth Center?
It´s amazing that the young people in Idrija could have this space for them with so many activities to do. Even more thinking about the team that carries it; in the approximately month and a half that I've been here, they have been like a non-stop of ideas and projects for the future. It´s good to see how their spirits remains high after this time that we live. I am fortunate to be able to collaborate with them.
What have you done in the past? What do you like to do the most?
I´ll answer those two questions in one, because – I hope the next phrase makes sense —I've been doing what I like since I discovered what I liked.
I have lived most of my life in Murcia, there I studied Theatre at the Higher School of Dramatic Art. About this part of my live, since I started these studies, I´ve acted in around 30 shows and I worked with some theatre companies, but there were two stages that I highlight in those four years. The first one was my Erasmus year in Moldova where I think I developed myself professionally and as a person; and the second one when I worked with a theatre company at Czech Republic where i discover a new way of acting the physical theater.
In the other hand is the music. I´ve been playing the guitar for –approximately– 6 years now. I'm probably not the best guitarist in the world, but I write songs as I breathe and they are – in some way— a personal therapy. My music has led me to perform in many bars and stages around the world, but what I've done the most has probably been to play in the street. I love to discover the streets of a city, stop to play in a beautiful place and expose myself a bit to the people who pass by.

What is your first impression about Idrija?
As I said some paragraphs ago, coming from a fully and messy city as Madrid, to live here it´s like the perfect exile to me. I’m scout, so I would dare to say that this town in the middle of the is the most beautiful place I have ever lived. To have the chance to go up a hillside just to read or enjoy the landscape, go for a run next to the river, see deer and squirrels everywhere. Maybe all of this it´s the usual for you, but for me everything is new and exciting. I think Idrija has a lot of history and there are a lot of places to discover –By the way, any recommendation is more than welcome at: facebook.com/consdesoto –. I have some months ahead yet, so I’m sure I will.
